Op 1 februari heeft het Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) aangekondigd<\/a>\u00a0het opleggen van blokkerende sancties aan verschillende personen en entiteiten in verband met een groep die sancties ontdook en het militair-industrieel complex van Rusland steunde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Voor een van de gesanctioneerde personen voegde OFAC twee crypto-adressen toe als identificatie, een Ethereum- en een Bitcoin-adres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OFAC is de eerste Amerikaanse overheidsinstantie die cryptocurrency-adressen publiekelijk toevoegt aan haar sanctielijst. Deze stap, die veel publiciteit heeft gekregen, geeft aan dat OFAC de reikwijdte van het opleggen van sancties uitbreidt van traditionele bank- en financi\u00eble systemen naar het digitale tijdperk - inclusief cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deze openbare handhavingsactie van OFAC toont aan dat er meer aandacht is voor personen die cryptocurrencies gebruiken voor illegale activiteiten en benadrukt hun kwetsbaarheid voor financi\u00eble sancties.
